New
You Program
The
Bay Area Lupus Foundation developed a New You (Self Image) Program to
help lupus patients take a more active role in helping themselves look
and feel better.
Sometimes
lupus patients have to deal with cosmetic changes due to having lupus
or from their prescribed medications. There are some very positive things
one can do to camouflage these potential side effects.
The
BALF published a 16-page New You Magazine in 1994 and the information
is still current and very useful. Topics include "Looking Your Best If
You Are on Cortisone", "Covering up LE Skin Problems", "Lupus and Hair
Loss", "The One in the Water is Me", "Feelings, About Changes, Losses,
Chronic Illness", "Putting Imagery to Work", "Pain Management", and "Vitamins,
Minerals, Supplements and the Lupus Patient". For a complimentary copy,
contact the BALF office or make your request by e-mail.
The
BALF has had a series of New You programs over the past four years. Those
programs that have been professionally videotaped that members may rent
for a nominal $5 fee are listed below:

Methods of Controlling Pain, Stephen Rao, MD, March 23, 1996
