2008 Spring Conference
Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE): The Basics, the Present and the Future
Whether it is you or someone you love that has lupus, you know it can be a difficult condition to understand and treat. Please join us at the LFNC Spring Conference on Saturday, March 29, 2008, from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 pm, at the Park Pavilion Building adjacent to El Camino Hospital in Mountain View.*
Our featured physician speaker is Dr. Joseph Isaacson. Dr. Isaacson has been a rheumatologist in San Jose for 28 years. He has recently retired from his clinical practice and has joined the teaching staff at Stanford.
He is an Adjunct Associate Professor of Medicine, Stanford University School of Medicine, and is an attending physician at Stanford University Hospital and the Palo Alto VA Hospital. He graduated from the University of Michigan undergraduate and medical schools. He received his post-graduate medical training at the University of Hawaii and the University of California, Davis. He is national board certified by the American Boards of Rheumatology, Allergy and Immunology, and Internal Medicine. He is also the medical director of Metabolic Nutrition Program, a medical clinic for the treatment of severe obesity.
You will gain a better understanding of the clinical aspects of lupus, currently available treatments, and treatments that are on the horizon. A Q and A session will follow his presentation.
A second featured speaker will be Dr. Jorn Drappa, Medical Director at Genentech, who will give an update on the progress of recent clinical trials and about the new clinical trials that are still enrolling participants. Dr. Drappa currently leads the clinical development programs of ocrelizumab and rhuMAb IFNalpha in SLE. Genentech is one of the pharmaceutical industry leaders working towards the development of new effective treatments for lupus. Dr. Drappa will answer questions at the conclusion of his presentation.
